Dear Reader,
The big news this month is something you all have wanted.: GUARANTEED PUBLICATION OF NEWS RELEASES.
Yeah, we know. We always say how we hate news releases, that they are just ad copy and they don’t really have any news in them. That hasn’t changed but we are accepting them now… for a price.
For the incredibly low price of $25 a month, you can send us as many cybersecurity related press releases as you want and we will publish them online. We will edit them for style and consistency (removing unproven superlatives and loquacious headlines), and put them in the Industry News section. You can copy the link for your clients and clipbooks, BUT, WAIT, THERE IS MORE. You will also get a premium subscription to the magazine so you can make screen shots for said clipbooks.
First month is free until January 1, then $25 a month after that. Cancel any time.
And now, back to our program.
Going and coming
We often expect a slowdown in pitches and news in August after Black Hat, but this year we had cancellations galore for meetings set up, but delayed for vacations and kids going back to school. We are looking into several subjects but one is dropping off.
We’ve asked for information about digital sovereignty for several months and we have received a lot of ideas. The problem is no one really seems to know what it is… yet. It is really a governmental problem and even governments haven’t come up with a concrete definition. That is a story that can be told in a single paragraph. Like this one.
We are reviving the idea of a Defense against the AI arts panel. We’ve had several articles and interviews already. We delayed until September/October because of scheduling conflicts with participants. If you are interested in applying, you have our contact info.
Ransomware recovery is a growing niche. We get pitches about once a week from companies promising to be able to counteract ransomware attacks before they happen by securing data. It’s enough information to look into the claims and see if they are valid.
Cybersecurity training trends. There are lots of opportunities to get free training. There are lots of opportunities follow cost training. Are they worth what you pay for. We will be talking to experts about that.
New stuff
Lateral movement attacks are a really big deal. Once an attacker can get into a low-security point in a system they can wheedle their way into more secure areas. Stopping them is big business because no one has an absolute defense.
We’re going to be busy. Welcome back from holiday.
