Dear Reader,
It's February 2025 and we're publishing an issue about predictions for 2025. Too late, you say? Well, it depends. For one, we didn't ride the year-end/beginning-of-the-year wave where predictions are sent out en masse. On the other hand, as most of the predictions are by our valued partners and contributors, most of them were produced before the year actually started. Though, as can be expected, those predictions are usually related to the area of expertise of the respective author, given the news that dominated the first month of 2025, a few of our experts probably might have changed their predictions.
But, given the idea we will be pushing with this issue as well as in Cyber Protection Magazine over the coming year, it doesn't really matter. In this issue, you will also find an article by our Chief Editor Lou Covey - "Putting Bias Aside", on page 4 - where he analyzes the predictions we printed in last year's issue. In other words, a reality check: how did those predictions hold up to what really happens.
Speaking of which: this issue is structured a little different then what you as our valued readers are used to. Instead of giving each prediction their own article, we pretty much put all of the predictions which reached us in late 2024 into one article. We've also decided not to edit those, so what you will read in this article are the raw and uncommented predictions we have received from cybersecurity vendors directly or the PR firms we work with. Do let us know which of these predictions raised your interested the most - I'm sure the PR firms and the vendors will appreciate the feedback.
One exception of the rule is our last article in this issue, "2025 AI insights" on page 17. We would have loved to see this in our previous issue, but firstly we didn't receive this in time and secondly, it's a mixture of our previous issue's topic (AI) and this current one.
Lastly, you might be surprised that our last article is not the last piece of content in this issue. That, as well, is on purpose. As mentioned above, we let you be the judge which predictions are the best - not in terms of those predictions becoming a reality, but rather which one you think brings the message across best. For all other predictions, we recommend our new media training. Starting on page 20 you can read all about what our media training entails and how it can help you get your message across your target audience.
What can be said about 2025 already: it's going to be a really, really interesting year.
And now, without further ado: our latest issue.
Enjoy Reading
