Dear Reader,
The RSA 2025 Conference is almost upon us, one of the few trade shows Cyber Protection Magazine will cover this year (because you can only listen to the buzzwords so often). We are, taking a more moderated approach.
Instead of accepting 50-80 meetings, we’ve cut it down to 20 just to eliminate some of the duplication in messaging. We know it won’t be completely eliminated but it makes it easier for our chief editor to remember what was said if it is only said by three of four companies.
We hate embargoes
One of the screening criteria was if the company asked us to embargo their “news.” If they did, they more than likely didn’t get a meeting. We are busy at conference and don’t have time to make sure your story gets published on the day you want it published. This is especially true if it is aboout a new product, a product upgrade, an award, a new hire, an acquisition, a new funding round or any of the typical annnounceents that companies seem to think they need to embargo for a specific day and time. There are hundreds of these announcement at every trade show, which means there is nothing newsworthy about them.
A basic rule of thumb we apply is: News is about anything out of the ordinary. If everyone is announcing the same thing, it isn’t news.
One more thing about embargoes. If we actually think your announcement has merit, we are going to report it as soon as possible. So if you don’’t want it reported before a certain date, don’t send it to us. We are a small organization, mostly volunteer run because we don’t make enough money to do anything but keep the magazine running. We don’t have time to keep track of your marketing calendar.
Our mission
If you've been following us, you know that our mission is to help navigate through the deep waters of cybersecurity. With the ultimate goal, of course, to protect against cyber attacks. Something which is especially challenging for small and medium sized businesses, as most cybersecurity providers focus their solutions on larger businesses.
However, we have found a partner who offers all the basic security you need: Lupasafe protects your network, your cloud services and, probably most importantly, your employees. Read our review of their tool here and, if you're interested, sign up here. You'll receive a free premium subscription of Cyber Protection Magazine, too.
And with that we'll leave you alone with our newsletter.
