Cybersecurity aims to connect science and practice in the field of cybersecurity. To achieve this, we work with many distinguished experts and professionals, both from the science community as well as the industry.
We are always looking for contributors to Cybersecurity Magazine. Do you work in the cybersecurity industry and have an interesting topic to discuss? Are you researching a particular topic on Cybersecurity and would like to see this topic better represented? Do you want to comment on a current topic in the area of cybersecurity?

Adam Glick is a vice president and chief information security officer at Rocket Software, a Boston area-based technology company that helps organizations in the IBM ecosystem build solutions that meet today’s needs while extending the value of their technology investments for the future. Before joining Rocket Software, he served as the VP of cyber risk at Brown Brothers Harriman and as the head of information security at Century Bank before that. He is also an adjunct professor at Boston College, where he teaches graduate courses in cyber security.
Prof. Aggelos Kiayias FRSE is chair in Cyber Security and Privacy and director of the Blockchain Technology Laboratory at the University of Edinburgh. He is also the Chief Scientist at blockchain technology company IOHK and Associate Professor of Cryptography and Security at the University of Athens. His research interests are in computer security, information security, applied cryptography and foundations of cryptography with a particular emphasis in blockchain technologies and distributed systems, e-voting and secure multiparty protocols as well as privacy and identity management.
Alex Leadbeater is a seasoned engineer in telecommunications and has been working for British Telecoms for over 20 years in various roles. He is currently working in the capacity of Head of Global Obligations (Future & Standards) at BT. He's involved in various standardization groups in 3GPP and ETSI and is currently the Chair of the ETSI NFV Security group, the Chair of the ETSI SAI ISG, the Chair of the ETSI TC CYBER and the Chair of 3GPP SA3-LI.

Andy is Director of Cybersecurity at Steel Root, a firm specializing in cybersecurity and data compliance. He is focused on building cybersecurity maturity for small and medium-sized organizations. He specializes in helping defense and federal contractors meet their compliance obligations and build their cybersecurity capability to meet the modern threat landscape head-on. Prior to joining Steel Root, Andy managed IT operations and cybersecurity in the defense industry, internally and as a consultant. He currently holds the following certifications: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) from ISC2 and a CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) from ISACA.
Anurag is the CTO of Bitglass and expedites technology direction and architecture. Anurag was director of engineering in Juniper Networks’ Security Business Unit before co-founding Bitglass. Anurag received a global education, earning an M.S. in computer science from Colorado State University, and a B.S. in computer science from the Motilal Nehru National Institute Of Technology.

Bruno Pavlicek is a Senior Investigator with the Corporate Security Department of a major telecommunications corporation. He has over 25 years of experience in criminal and civil investigations between law enforcement and the private sector, specializing in fraud and non-traditional organized crime groups. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Forensic Interviewer, and currently serves as the President of the Georgia state chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Bruno holds a PhD in Psychology, as well as a Master’s degree in Economic Crime Management.
Carl worked as a UK Police officer in London for 24 years, specialising in antisocial behaviour and court applications before moving into the Metropolitan Police’s Falcon fraud and cybercrime Command in 2014. He headed the Operational Development Team there and was responsible for all performance, intelligence, and other support functions of the Command. This work also included the specialist investigation of high value, cyber-related fraud and management of the Command’s tasking process. He has a BSc (Hons) in Policing and a Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership & Management.
Carl’s role at Mimecast, in addition to providing threat intelligence focussed on email threats blocked by Mimecast, he also oversees e-crime and cyber investigations. This adds a wider context to the attacks companies are facing and seeks to clarify the who and why of them being targeted.
Carlos Rivera is a Principal Research Advisor in Security, Privacy, Risk, and Compliance. Carlos has 25 years of experience in IT and cybersecurity, primarily within the fintech industry. Prior to joining Info-Tech Research Group, Carlos spent 21 years as an information security officer for multi-billion-dollar business units dedicated to money movement in the P2P, B2C, and B2B space. Most recently, throughout his 21-year career with this Fortune 500 fintech, Carlos led global teams of security and network engineers, enterprise architects, risk managers and analysts that provided cybersecurity services to many global financial industry clients, and was responsible for information security governance, cyber risk management, vulnerability management, application security methodology and adoption focusing on shift-left fundamentals such as Static Analysis Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Analysis Security Testing (DAST), Open Source Security Testing (OSST), and Manual Application Security Testing (MAST).
His expertise covers all aspects of security architecture, cryptography, application security, cyber risk management as well as communication and transmission cybersecurity: SMTP, DNS, and file transmission mechanisms. In addition, Carlos has conducted presentations delivered in various symposiums, such as the Nevada IT Symposium focused on fintech cybersecurity.
Carlos holds numerous security certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified CheckPoint Systems Administrator (CCSA), Payment Card Industry Professional (PCIP), Payment Card Industry Internal Security Assessor (PCI ISA), and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Internet (MCSE+I).

Christoph brings a wealth of expertise in product strategy, constantly redefining "most advanced" in the SAP business critical application sector. Christoph is responsible for executing product strategies for the SecurityBridge and ABEX product suites.
The creator of Physical Presence technology, I start in the US Army as a Cartographic Draftsman. Honing my precision and attention to detail, I then shifted his focus to the world of software programming and would work as a Systems Analyst. With entrepreneurial flames burning, I then work as a software engineering consultant before taking the leap into my own venture. It was at this point when I first developed a method to prove presence on the internet by creating a digital state-of-existence.
Cindy is a solutions strategist with a focus on cyber security and experience as an IT leader and a developer. She's passionate about making application security mainstream by changing the market: how app sec tools are used, by whom, and what outcome is expected. Ask her about pragmatic steps to truly integrate security into DevOps using workflows that are more effective, efficient, and transparent.
Her book, "10 steps every CISO should take to secure next generation software" is intended to help security professionals understand how software development is changing and the impact upon security programs. Application security especially must evolve if it is to be effective and relevant amongst DevOps, containers, orchestrators and micro services.

It is considered one of the IT industry's top trade associations. Based in Downers Grove, Illinois, CompTIA issues vendor-neutral professional certifications in over 120 countries. The organization releases over 50 industry studies annually to track industry trends and changes. Over 2.2 million people have earned CompTIA certifications since the association was established.
Dan Gardner is the COO and co-founder of ProcessBolt. He has over 25 years of success in software development, IT infrastructure, cloud operations, and startups. Before founding ProcessBolt, Dan was VP of Technology at NetSPI. Prior to that, he was a founder of Renew Data Corp., a company that specialized in high volume electronic data discovery, now part of KLDiscovery (KLDI).
Dana Roth is the content marketing manager at Perception Point, a security tool for cloud collaboration applications (including email, file-sharing and instant messaging platforms) that catches all threats—before being delivered. Dana has a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Journalism. She loves helping start-up companies achieve their goals (and spending time at the beach!)
Dave Palmer is a cyber security technical expert with more than ten years' experience at the forefront of government intelligence operations. He has worked across UK intelligence agencies GCHQ and MI5, where he delivered mission-critical infrastructure services, including the replacement and security of entire global networks, the development of operational internet capabilities and the management of critical disaster recovery incidents. At Darktrace, Dave oversees the mathematics and engineering teams and product strategy. He holds a first class degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the University of Birmingham.
David Schiffer is RevBits’ Chief Executive Officer. David Schiffer’s career spans several decades of mathematics and computer science endeavors. He began his career in both technology and international business, after earning two Master’s Degrees in Math and Computer Science. David is the Co-Founder of two technology companies. Prior to co-founding RevBits, he was the Founder and CEO of Safe Banking Systems, which was sold to Accuity / RELX after almost twenty years in business.
Dotan Nahum is the CEO and founder of Spectral, a developer-first cybersecurity company. Dotan is also an experienced software developer and open-source committer since 1999 with over 100 open source projects of which some are used by Fortune 500 companies like Accenture, as well as public companies such as Wix, and others.
His vast experience as CTO at HiredScore and CTO at Como (Conduit Mobile), and later at fintech unicorn Klarna allowed him to promote engineering culture and effectiveness in Israel by scaling products and companies through building resilient distributed systems, leading cybersecurity strategies, big data analytics, and open source. Dotan is also a 4 times tech author (Packt, Leanpub, among others) and a host of 2 podcasts (Reversim and RTCZ.io) dealing with developers and cybersecurity.
Dr. Varin Khera
Dr. Khera is a veteran cybersecurity executive with more than two decades worth of experience working with information security technology, models and processes. He is currently the Chief Strategy of ITSEC Group and the Co-founder and CEO of ITSEC (Thailand). ITSEC is an international information security firm offering a wide range of high-quality information security services and solutions with operation in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Dubai.
Previously the head of cyber security Presales for NOKIA, Dr. Khera has worked with every major telecom provider and government in the APAC region to design and deliver security solutions to a constantly evolving cybersecurity threat landscape.
Dr. Khera holds a Doctor of Information Technology (DIT) from Murdoch University, a Postgraduate Certificate in Network Computing from Monash University and a Certificate of Executive Leadership from Cornell University.
