Irrational exuberance at AI Infra Summit

Listening to the presentations and pitches of the companies participating in the very well-attended AI Infra Summit that ended in Santa Clara last week, the phrase “irrational exuberance” seemed appropriate.

Perhaps no industrial sector in the world is as vulnerable to cyberattack as manufacturing infrastructure. Nearly half of the respondents (45%) in a 2024 study by Claroty reported that the financial impact of cyberattacks that year averaged $500,000 or more, while 27% reported a loss of $1 million or more. But security is an afterthought in presentations at the conference.

That doesn’t mean, however, that it was not top of mind for attendees. It just didn’t seem to be a concern to the presenters and exhibitors.
