It’s here. Almost exactly one year after we started the Cyber Protection Magazine website, we’re proud to announce the very first issue of Cyber Protection Magazine. This special edition is all about protecting the building blocks of a connected world – i.e. it’s our API security issue.
When you hear about cybersecurity in the media – even the cybersecurity outlets – you’ll hear mostly about ransomware, data breaches, threat detection or concepts like Zero Trust. However, there are also topics that might seem boring or arcane, but on closer inspection, they affect almost everything in the world of information technology.
Take a look at anything you do with your smartphone, your smartwatch or your computer. An API will always be involved. As our chief editor Lou Covey put it in one of his articles in this API security issue: “A simple financial transaction involves APIs in your phone, the server your phone is connected to, the servers of the bank and the vendor, the mobile phone network, the wifi connection and maybe a dozen more. APIs simplify our lives but they also make us more vulnerable to cybercrime.”
Let that sink in, thing about it for a minute and you’ll agree that securing APIs will be one of the most important tasks for cybersecurity in the near future. If you want to deep dive, download a copy of our magazine. Do you want to know what’s included? Here is a list of articles:

There will be more special editions in the future, of course. In fact, we are planning to release a new edition, each on a different topic, at least every quarter. Additionally, for special events we’ll also create special issues – and for those events we’ll even be printing the magazine. Therefore, subscribe to our magazine editions and if you have any suggestions for topics, or articles for upcoming editions, contact us and let us know.
